What shepherds do with too much spare time and a whole lot of LEDs

E-mail Print PDF

I guess shepherds get bored with the daily life of whistling at their dogs and pushing those sheep around. So what do they do? Before you head is hit with a deluge of colorful anecdotes about nervous sheep, why don't you watch this video of what some very clever shepherds from the UK did with their herd at night and a truck load of LEDs.

In a 'raw hide sort of way, there is something sort of Phillip K Dick about this.

My new favorite Solar Eclipse image.

E-mail Print PDF

Cloudy Solar EclipseI never had the math skills when I was in school to pursue a higher education in one of my favorite sciences, Astronomy. I struggled through high school algebra - calculus would have killed me.

But the movement of celestial bodies has always facinated me. Especially when those movements readily visible to the naked eye occur. Like the solar eclipse that happened yesterday over Asia. We in North America could not witness this rare event. Fortunately, lots of people who did witness it had digital cameras and snapped some very beautiful images.

My personal favorite image is this one.  The brown and sepia tones of the clouds obscuring the crecent of the sun just visible behind the moon yields an image that is dark yet warm to me.

BTW: If you like the image, feel free to click on the thumb and download the full size version ( 1024 x 768 ).

If eclipse images fires your rockets, then you need to check out the Picfog photo aggregator.

Where The Wild Things Are - The kids and I are amped!

E-mail Print PDF

The kids and I were watching a lot of kids videos on YouTube a little while ago and much to our delight we saw that the childrens book 'Where The Wild Things Are' is going to be released as a movie this October 16th.

I don't know who is more excited - the kids or me.

After watching the trailer we had to stomp around the room while we roared our terrible roars and gnashed our terrible teeth and showed our terrible claws!

Bumper Fail

I found this gem of intelligence in a parking lot here in South Florida this weekend. I guess the owner of this car thought the price for a new bumper at the auto shop was a little steep and went to the wood shop to get the repairs done.

I submitted this photo to FailBlog. Let's see if it made their front page.
